Understanding Your ATV: Tires
ATV’s are a whirlwind; fun, exciting, and powerful. However, it’s imperative for your safety and the safety of others that you take precautions with your vehicle. Understanding your ATV is the best way to avoid an accident. The experienced team at Gator Sports is ready to answer any and all of your questions. Be it for performance or maintenance, we’re trained in every aspect and part of your ATV.

Let’s focus on tires for the time being. Your ATV’s tire and tire pressure is one of the most important aspects of your ride. While the rubber and the rums help support you, the tire pressure makes all the difference for smooth, efficient riding. Make sure your tires are filled to the correct PSI by investing in a pressure gauge for ATV’s. Gauges made to read the lower ATV tire pressure typically start at 0 and go up to 5.8 PSI. Always check your ATV owner manual for the recommended PSI.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recommends checking tire pressure at least once a month and making adjustments to meet manufacturer’s guidelines. It also suggests measuring PSI before long trips and they recommend replacing tires when the tread gets down to 1/16 inch. If you’re carting any items or additional vehicles, make sure to check you tire pressure as added wait can affect the pressure.
